speakup tournaments
the basics
SpeakUp hosts free parliamentary-style tournament every two months. These tournaments will take place over the course of two days, with preliminary rounds on day one, and elimination rounds on day two. Our tournaments’ format closely resembles the American Parliamentary Debate format, whose rules can be found in the Tournament Resources section below. All tournaments are 100% student-run and will take place on Zoom. Information on the tournament, such as the tournament schedule, motion drops, pairings, and breaks will be communicated through the Discord server.

Tournaments are for debaters of all levels! If you're new to debate and wish to attend a pre-tournament class on foundational debate procedure and basics, indicate so on the form!

1. ​Fill out the form
Click the register button on the tournament you are participating in and fill out the Google form. By filling out this form, you are committing to the tournament unless you communicate with us otherwise.
2. Await Further Information
Prior to the tournament, SpeakUp staff will send all necessary information to debaters and judges (schedule, codes, etc.). Once you've finished the first step, keep an eye out for an email from speakupdebate.official@gmail.com
